We have been learning about how energy and forces play a role in the Water Cycle. We made cloud models to show what force (gravity) makes water fall from clouds.

Today we took some ratio data on the number of shots made to total shots attempted in teams. We then used that information to find the fractions, decimals, and percentages. This week we started Football Friday! Each Friday we will do math activities based on statistics of the teams we chose. This week we found averages and made bar graphs on the experience of the players on our teams. This week we started our science projects using Research Quest by the Natural History Museum of Utah. Our class is one of the few classes in the state that gets to test the program first! It uses critical analysis of 3D fossils to help us sharpen and build upon our science skills. We are using our observations of strong, weak, and discomfirming evidence. We will then construct arguments to answer the question "What dinosaur did these bones come from?" This week we are wrapping up our heat, light, and sound unit with sound labs! Students were able to determine what makes sound and the difference between pitch and volume through their observations. We had a lot of fun.
We recently conducted an experiment using the scientific method. Students were asked to save Sam (the worm) from drowning by getting his life vest (gummy life saver) on him using only two paperclips. Most students were very successful in their endevour, but everyone utilized scientific reasoning and processing in their attempts to save Sam. |
